62. The Rising - Kelley Armstong

The Rising by Kelley Armstrong is what I needed, not what I wanted.

Holy cramoli.

That's the reaction I left myself on this page after I had finished reading it. So I'm just going to leave it there, because it's really how I felt after putting down this book and finishing it.

The end of this book ended on a happy note and it was perfect but it left me wanting so much more. I want more about this world Kelley Armstrong created. I wanted the group to rebel and team up against the Cabals.

I also wanted Maya and Raffe to end up together, but let's not talk about that.

Seeing the characters from her Darkest Powers Trilogy was super weird to me because instead of being inside Chloe's head, we were watching her from Maya's point of view. I couldn't quite wrap my head around the fact that it was in fact Chloe and Derek and all the rest of them.

Despite the fact that all the things I wanted to happen didn't, it was amazing and wrapped up beautifully.

Oh Kelley Armstrong, why do you make me feel all these things. I swear I might just read anything that woman writes at this point.

(I know it's a bad photo! I'm really sorry!)

51. The Calling - Kelley Armstrong

The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong is the second book in the Darkness Rising.

I've let this book soak in (for a few hours now) and I still love it. I rated it a whole star more than the first one because there was so much more going on. Or at least it felt like it anyways.

She moves very slowly through time with her writing, but she gets every detail and that is the reason I love Kelley Armstrong. At first it feels as if nothing has happened because time moves so slowly in her writing until you finish it and think. In reality, so much has happened.

I don't want to give too much away from this book since it is in fact the second book and I'd be ruining it for a lot of people if you haven't read it yet.

Maya is amazing and so strong, mostly mentally. She is such a great leader and doesn't back down from her responsibilities even when everyone but her friend Daniel is against her.

Daniel is a great friend for Maya, but for some reason I just don't like him. Like I understand that he has to be there but most of this book it just seemed like he was just... well there.

Raffe is pretty cool. I understand his motives and why he does what he does. I like him and Maya together, but the rest is just meh.

That covers the big three I think. I really, really like Sam and Annie. Both of them are amazing when we get to see them. This book hardly had any Annie in it, actually she only appeared once. But she reminded me why I love her character so much and I can't wait to see her in the third and final books. Meanwhile Sam is the badass girl every book needs.

Well, we actually need more than one badass girl in books. Maya and Same are prime examples of that and I love both of them.

Part of me wants Maya to be bisexual and end up with Sam in the end, but everyone knows that's just not going to happen any time soon. Oh well, I can live with her and Raffe together in the end. (Let's just face it. We all know it's going to happen anyways.)

What I'm really hoping for is an appearance from any character from the Darkest Powers trilogy.

I'm also staying very hopeful.

Onto read the next book!

45. The Sea of Monsters - Rick Riordan

The second book in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan sure does live up to the awesomness of the first one.

If you have seen the movies, they can't live up to the books at all. I re-watched the first one recently and it was all wrong. A great movie, but as an adaptation of the book, terrible. I don't want to even try to watch the second one while I'm still on a high of reading these books because I know its even worse.

I want so badly for them to turn this series into a TV show and I want them to follow it as perfectly as they can because it would be so good.

So good.

Honestly, if you want to get into reading and you've never been much of a reader before, read this series. This series will turn you into a reader. It's that good.

Do it. Read it. Now. Go.

I'm completely serious.

44. Scarlet - Marissa Meyer

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer just might be my favourite book in the Lunar Chronicles.

I just, just finished this book like three seconds ago. The one chapter in Queen Levana's point of view - you know which one I'm talking about - was too calm. Seriously, that is the only thing I can think about right now. The Queen was just too calm and weird and I didn't particularly like her point of view.

There was just something about it that didn't feel right, does that make sense?

Anyway, this book was amazing!

I love Wolf and Scarlet and Cinder and everyone! They are so amazing.

To be honest, I loved Wolf even when he was being an asshole.

I don't know why I didn't get on this bandwagon sooner. Seriously, I could have started reading this series long ago, but I never did. Yet, here we are. I am finally reading it and it's amazing.

My favourite point of view is Cinder's but I really, really love Scarlet's as well. I hope that they end up as good friends by the end of this.

Thorne is slightly annoying but also funny. I'm not sure how I feel about him yet. I don't hate him, but I'm not too sure if I like him yet.

I'm going to pick up Cress very, very soon! (As soon as I finish the other three books I'm reading right now.) Seriously, if you haven't started this series yet, do it. It's so worth it!

43. Carry On - Rainbow Rowell

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.

Where do I even begin.

This was a cute book. Not as serious as Fangirl, but still very cute. Some terms were very childlike and it has some obvious issues with some point-of-views within the novel but I still enjoyed it a lot.

Agatha wasn't the best at any point but I like where she ended up. To be honest, I didn't see her point of being in the story at all other than to prove that Simon was bisexual instead of gay but even that didn't seem necessary to me.

Baz is great, my favourite character by far and also the best name.

Simon was weird the whole time honestly. And for fucks sake, just please use the term bisexual. I just wanted to see it once in this book and it wasn't.

Penelope was also the best. 100%

42. Where'd You Go, Bernadette - Maria Semple

Alright let me start off by saying that I picked this up because my Aunt lent it to me saying she really liked it and then after having it sit there for a month I went to a friends house over the weekend and knew the bus ride to get there would be long, so I brought one book only to read and it was this one. I didn't finish it on the bus there or while I was there or on the bus back. However, I did finish it two days later because wow there's a lot to take in. So much to try and figure out.

Too many things I want to know!!!

This story is told a little differently. It's a fourteen/fifteen year old girl who lives in Seattle with her two awesome parents. They're both a little crazy but they are super awesome.

Her mom is literally the coolest mom ever (besides my mom obviously) even if she seems to need help. She doesn't REALLY need help, she just needs to be shoved in the right direction once again. And that's exactly what happens.

The way it's written is a bunch of documents like; emails, FBI files, memos and notes. It's very weird and a tad harder to get into but I still loved it very much. Every once and while you see a note Bee made or one of her memories from when these things happened which is very nice.

I was also told this was supposed to be a humour book? Not too sure about that still. There are some humorous moments but nothing that I think (personally) that would classify this under the category of humour.

I just found it a tab suspenseful and I wanted to keep reading it to find out where it goes. The characters were so interesting I wanted so badly to learn more about them and that's what kept me hooked.

There is still so much I want to know about and here are some of them: (SPOILERS MAYBE)

-The baby?? Like?? Tell me more!!!
-The baby's mom? (I can't remember her name)
-Their crazy neighbour and her son?
-The neighbour's husband?
-What did her mom do about that lady and the baby? Like I want to know more!!
-Tell me everything about that new building she's making!
-Does Bee like her knew half-sibling?
-Does she get along with the other lady's kids?
-Or the mother to her half sibling?
-How does her dad feel really?
-Where does he work now? Also, is he loving it?
-Basically just let me know how all the characters are doing.

Please, please Maria Semple! Please give me more

41. The Dream Thieves - Maggie Stiefvater

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater is a perfect roller coaster of emotions.

Alright, it took me a whole month to read this whole thing, let's see how well I remember what happened.

To be honest, I thought switching into the Gray Man's point of view was a waste of time for about half the book until he met Maura, and well I'm not saying the rest of that will be a spoiler. Don't make assumptions! You could be thinking something happened but really nothing happened.

Can I also just say that this book made me love Ronan even more. Like he's so good and so scary all at the same time. Sometimes I wish I could come across as scary as Ronan. He's like my new roll model.

Adam pretty much made me angry this whole book until him and Persephone helped out Ronan. I really just want him to be the Adam that was in The Raven Boys because I loved that Adam so much.

I also love that Gansey and Blue's relationship. Gansey calls her just for her to talk and to get his mind off things. Then Blue asks him to just talk and drive anywhere to get her mind off things. It's so cute and so heartbreaking.

I would say goals, but we all know what's going to happen eventually and that is not goals.

I gave this book a 4 star rating on Goodreads rather than a five star like the first book but I have a reason. This book really seemed like they were just hopping along and nothing was really happening. Like they were doing things but none of it felt like it was going anywhere.

Then - at like the 400th page - everything awkwardly fell into place and Ronan and Kavinsky fought and it was epic but not epic enough for me to be honest. Like, I wanted more to happen than that. Or for it just to last a bit longer.

Just something more.

Then the darn thing ends on a cliffhanger and no one even knows how we got to the dang cliffhanger.

Right now I feel like this book was kind of a mess, but I do intend on reading the next one very soon!

(I love that the Starbucks barista just crossed out my name and started again.)

40. Etiquette and Espionage - Gail Carriger

Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger is

I have to admit that this took me a while to read. I started reading it in the dark in my room super late at night when I should have been sleeping. Then the main character started to annoy me so I stopped for a bit. (This happens to me a lot.)

The main character annoyed me a lot for the first half of the book and I continually put it down at certain parts. But that's just how main characters roll.

It took me so long to finish this and I repeatedly put it into my bag to bring to work so maybe I'd read it at lunch time however, I never did. So I pretty much forced myself t sit down and read as much as I could to get it down.

However, after I forced myself to do that, the book got really good. I actually ended up liking it a lot! And I have the next book in the series ready to go!

The main character may suck but the book was good. The idea is fantastic and honestly this universe would make an amazing tv show. Part of me hopes it will make it that far.

39. The Gathering - Kelley Armstrong

Kelley Armstrong has quickly become one of my favourite authors.

I'll admit that this book has a slow start. My friend and I wanted to read this book alongside each other so we could talk about it as we read. However, she could hardly get as far as the sixth chapter without me raving about how amazing the fifteenth chapter was.

It seems a little boring, however it was not to me. This book hooked me almost right away and kept me reading. I tried to wait for my friend to catch up with me but she gave up. That is a-okay.

Don't push yourself to read something if it doesn't interest you.

Although... if you fall in love with it, then keep going! Its totally worth it!

I can say that this book is one that only a select few people can get as hooked as I was and keep going. As I said a few seconds ago, it is very slow.

For some reason, don't ask me why, the thing that kept me reading was the first death in the book. This is the second trilogy that I've read that has started off with a death very early on - like within the first two chapters - and I mostly kept reading because I wanted to know what happened. I'm not going to tell you and spoil anything about who it was or what happened, but it was kind of awesome.

Do not judge! I was not yet emotionally attached to any characters when this death occurred so everything was fine.

I think that if you have a weird death in a book that is very unexplained at the time it happens, it's very awesome. Because you know you're going to find out later how it happened and that's one of the best parts.

I'd also like to say that Maya and Raffe are a new OTP of mine. I don't care what anyone else has to say on the subject. I ship it. Don't spoil me if you've read the other two books. I still have not and I'm going to very soon.

I'll come back to it and fix it but if you have questions just comment and I'll respond. I need a new laptop so we may have to wait for that to get here before I'll be able to get around to fixing this. I'm so sorry!!

38. Rebel Belle - Rachel Hawkins

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins is. Oh my gosh.

Looking at this book, you will have no idea what it's about. I had it on my shelf for so long that I practically forgot about it.

Let me just tell you, if you want something a bit different and a bit weird, pick this book up. Harper is the main character, and although I didn't agree with her on most things (usually I don't agree with the main characters in books) she is so awesome. I can't even begin to describe how awesome she is.

She was a superhero even before she got her super powers. I don't even understand how one person can be in so many clubs and extra curricular so without absolutely losing their minds in a week.

I love her and Ryan together and if you haven't read the book yet just know that I was not happy with the outcome. Even though you can really see it from a mile away.

I'm going to straight up say it, Saylor is a weird name and I don't like it.

I gave it four stars on Goodreads but only because I didn't agree with Harper. She can get kind of annoying at times, but then again what main character isn't annoying? I'm just being petty. If you haven't read this book, you need to. I know I say that a lot but I really mean it.

If you want something a bit different, go for this book. It might suprise you.

(Insert everything else afterwards because my computer is broken to the point of return and I need to save up and buy a new one.... Help.)

37. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs

This book has an extremely long name.

It also took me far too long to finish this book.

Ransom Riggs, I have no idea what goes on in your mind but I like it. There are things you would but wouldn't expect in this book. Mystery and not.

To be honest, I'm sure I missed a few things, I may have to read it again pretty soon before I can read the next one. There's just so much to remember. So much going on. So much amazingness.

The main reason I picked up this book was due to the lovely trailer for the movie coming out in September. Tim Burton though, am I right? I got to about page ten and found a book mark in there and realized I had previously started reading it but completely forgot. For about two or three years. I most definitely bought this book before I moved.

I gave it four stars on Goodreads. Though right now I'm feeling it's less than that, I know I was really in love with this book when I started to read it and if I would have read it all right the it would be a four star.

I probably won't read the second one for a bit mostly because I want to finish some other series first and I want to see the movie. Maybe it will make some things more clear to me. Even if they got the characters wrong. (Yes you can already tell by just looking at the trailer.)

I'll insert the picture and all that when I get a new computer. Have a nice day!

Here it is!!

36. Famous Last Words - Katie Alender

Famous Last Words by Katie Alender was kind of amazing.

This book got me out of a reading slump. There's ghosts and mystery murder and I loved every second of it. Katie Alender is amazing and I think that I'll read anything she'll write.

Willa is a great character going through a lot of difficult things. Wyatt was great from the start. I liked him from the beginning. Marine I didn't like. At all. She was crazy and at one point I was certain she was the killer.

Part of me wishes  she was, sadly the killer was a guy.

I'll try not to ruin anything. Maybe I should stop while I'm ahead.

If you want something that's seems sweet and innocent but ends up being a crazy ride into crazy-ville, you should pick this up.

The situation Willa is in at the beginning of the book seems like every teenage girl's dream. Moving to Hollywood with a new rich and slightly famous stepfather. However, Katie Alender skips over all the stuff you dream about and makes it more real.

That is why I love it so much. It's more real than fantasy. Well, aside from the ghosts.

But I believe in ghosts.

35. Girl Online On Tour - Zoe Sugg (Zoella)

Girl Online On Tour by Zoe Sugg is fantastic.

Oh man, I don't even know where to begin with this one.

The whole book had me a little on edge. It's like total second hand embarrassment but the good kind. The kind I can handle and the kind that wants me to keep reading. Not the kind that makes me put the book down and pace around the room.

I would read this book on my way to work and on my break then again when I got hom. It was very hard when I would come to a point where I wouldn't want to stop reading but I had to get off the train or go back to work. Kind of a little frustrating for me because I finished the first book so quickly, this time it took me 48 hours instead of 24. Twice as long. But it was worth it.

Everything about Penny and Noah just makes me want to burst with cuteness.

This book is like a cheesy, cliche romance mixed in with modern struggles and modern dreams. Everything anyone would want as a teenage girl in today's age. The cute rock-star boyfriend who treats you like a Princess. As well as the anxieties and mental health troubles that modern teenagers have.

The way she describes her anxiety and panic attacks is something I can relate to on a personal level. Though I don't quite experience it the same way Penny does, it still is very similar. Its nice to have that reassurance that you're not the only one who goes through these things.

Sometimes it can feel like you're all alone on this planet, but this book really proves that there is always someone there for you in your worst of times. When you need them the most, they will come.

34. The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is something my children are going to read as soon as they fall in love with books. (Which will be very early on in their life if I have anything to do with it.)

I read this back when the movie came out because I thought the movie was fantastic. My brother had read all of the books prior to seeing the movie and didn't like the movie one bit. Once the movie came out on DVD, my dad and I must have watched it once or twice a week for the longest time. We watched it so much in that year that my mom went out and bought another copy because we had scratched the disc.

So I decided to finally read it. I borrowed my brother's copies of the books and fell in love at first read.

Seriously, if you've never read one of Rick Riordan's books, just open up to the page where they tell you the names of the chapters and you'll be in love. He's so funny.

I recently re-read this book and decided that I needed to let you know that this is one of my favourite books of all time. This is one of my favourite series of all time actually.

The adventure and humour is unmatched all throughout The Lightning Thief and beyond.

Plus, who doesn't like reading about greek gods and goddess'?

33. Cinder - Marissa Meyer

Cinder by Marissa Meyer is nothing you'd expect.

I had book hangover for about a week and half after this.

Seriously though, real talk. I don't particularly like Cinderella. I mean, it's great and all but it's not a movie that I'll go and watch in my free time because I feel like watching it. So I had bought this book back when it first started getting talked about. It was before Cress came out I believe, could be earlier than that though.

Anyway, I hadn't picked it up until now and I really wish I waited or at least read it earlier. I loved it so much. Too much to be honest.

It still has that second-hand embarrassment that I hate but it was wonderful and I'd read it again and again. But first I need to read Scarlet.

Since I didn't think I was going to like this book, I didn't buy Scarlet before-hand. Good job to me. Looks like I'm going to have to wait until Easter. Scarlet is going to be the first book I buy when lent is over.

I gave it a 4 star rating on Goodreads, but it's more like a 4.9 to be honest. Mostly just because what Cinder did at the ball frustrated me to no end and because Emperor Kai doesn't really think. I mean he does, but he needs to think more logically. For real.

I could rant about it but I won't. That would mean spoilers for you and I promised to try hard to not do that.

Please read this book if you haven't. It's worth the hype. Also read it when you're not on a book-buying-ban so you can get the next one. Or you may suffer just as I am right now.

32. Blood Promise - Richelle Mead

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead, oh my I don't even know where to start with this one.

I loved it.

I just finished reading it about an hour ago but couldn't write this due to a surprise super at my grandparents. Anyways, I gave this book five stars on goodreads because oh my god.

It started off a bit after the third book ended. But in a perfect spot in my opinion. Almost instantly, I was crying while reading this. It didn't help that I was on a bus while reading the first bit that made me want to cry. I just really hope no one noticed.

I didn't know how this book was going to go, but I am so happy it went the way it did. And I can't wait to pick up the next one.

There were new characters included in this book that were so awesome, I just didn't want them to ever leave. I also loved the way she included Lissa's story in the book almost as much as Rose's story. Even though we aren't around the princess, we still she what she's up to and holy crap when Rose helps her out near the end.

That was probably one of my favourite parts in this book.

I swear as this series goes on, the books get better.

Blood Promise definitely came very close to becoming my favourite book in this series. As I soak up the last bit over the next few days it might surpas Frostbite and become my favourite. But we'll have to see what happens in the last two books as well.

Also, I've never had a book make me cry in the first half. It's always been in the last quarter that it happens so that is part of why I loved this book. A different section to cry in, if that makes any sense.

I'm a little weird.

31. The House of Night Series - P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

The House of Night series is not one that I can write about each separate book. I have to talk about them all together because every time I read this series it's within the span of a week or two and they all kind of blend together.

In the beginning Zoe deals with little things like school girl drama and what not but it quickly escalates to bigger problems. This series is super fast paced and I strongly believed that it should have ended at ten books.

I had to pretty much force myself to read the eleventh book and I honestly can say nothing really huge happened. Well, there was that thing with the humans and the lightning but that was so unnecessary that it's been a year and I still haven't picked up the twelfth book.

They just need to get rid of... well the evil headmistress lady (I can't remember her name. I know it starts with an N though.) and move on with their lives.

To be honest, my favourite character in these books is Stark, and my favourite books in the whole series are the one when he shows up (and dies) and the one where he has to save Zoe.

That's it really.

I don't have much to say about it but ten books is enough. I'll probably eventually read the twelfth book. One day. It will be when I have nothing else to read probably. I'll be desperate for something probably.

However, it's not going to be any day soon.

March Haul

So lent ended March 25th (the Thursday before Good Friday) and that meant I still had seven days to buy books. Oh boy, and did I buy.

1. Scarlet - Marissa Meyer
-I was kind of desperate to continue on with this series.

2. Cress - Marissa Meyer
-very desperate.

3. Glass Sword - Victoria Aveyard
-a sequel to a book I have not read. Because I do that a lot.

4. Sisters of Salt and Iron - Kady Cross
-the second book to a book I own and have not read.

5. Yellow Brick War - Danielle Paige
-I haven't read the other books but my friend has and she says she loves them. (She's actually borrowing my books too!) So I'm excited.

6. Dorothy Must Die Stories Part 2 - Danielle Paige
-same. lol.

7. Miss Mayhem - Rachel Hawkins
-another sequel.

8. Me Before You - Jojo Moyes
-the trailer for this movie looks so good that I couldn't pass it up!

9. Once Upon a Dream - Liz Braswell
-okay I just noticed this is a second book in a series and now I'm a little mad at myself.

10. Worlds of Ink and Shadow - Lena Coakley
-this one sounds so good!

11. Eat Pretty - Jolene Hart
- I really want more cook books.

12. The glam Guide - Fleur de Force

I also got like five colouring books. But I can't remember the names of them right now.
Lent was great, but I went too crazy afterwards. And the need to buy books hasn't left yet, help me!

March Wrap-Up and April TBR

March was a terrible month.

I said I finished The Dream Thieves last month because I was planning to finish it before the post actually went up (all my posts are on schedules) but I read like a page or two a day for all of March and it took me forever to actually finish.

I also started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children because the trailer for Tim Burton's movie came out and I was like 'damn I need to read that right now'. And so I did.

Onto books I *Actually* finished reading this month:

1. The Dream Thieves - Maggie Stiefvater
-I actually did it this time, I promise!

Now for April!!

1. Scarlet - Marissa Meyer
-I have started this one already! I love it so much!

2. Sea of Monsters - Rick Riordan
-I'm re-reading this one! I can't wait!

3. Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard
-I need to get onto this level.

4. Rebel Belle - Rachel Hawkins
-I still need to get on this level.

And of course I plan on finishing Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children very soon so my brother can read it too!

30. As Dead As It Gets - Katie Alender

As Dead As It Gets by Katie Alender is a fantastic final book in this trilogy.

This book was different from the first two but still equally haunting. You won't know the exact reason for everything that is happening until Alexis figures it all out too.

Book one had a haunted doll, book two had a group of girls worshiping a demon, and this book has a full on poltergeist. That and a few random ghosts here and there.

Also, a crazy boyfriend.

Its pretty great. Only took me a day to read and I kind of want to read more about Alexis and her ability to see ghosts and what not.

But the way it ended really was a perfect ending for this little series. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to try some easy horror to try and get into it. (But I think I already said that.)

29. Where She Went - Gayle Forman

Where She Went by Gayle Forman is the perfect sequel in my eyes.

I love, love, loved this book. Just as much as I loved the first one. It deals with a lot of deep things but it's also very light and cute at times. It kind of reminds me of fan fiction and that may be why I like it so much but let's hope not.

Unlike the first book, this book follows Adam around about three and a half years after the last book ended. It slowly fills you in on what happened after the first book ended. It also takes some time to look into Adam's past.

We learn why he was so interested in Mia before they met each other. We learn things he thought while they were in a relationship and how he felt about Mia's family, and still does.

The book also shows us how much things can change over time, but some things will remain.

I can see why people might not have loved this book but it makes me think they overlooked the deeper meanings inside of it. The reasons why people might have hated it are so minimal to the reasons to love it.

I am not a fan of the one chapter in the present and the next in the past, however that is because I just want to read what happens in the present more. I just kind of impatient about that kind of thing. Even though I know it's necessary to show why these things are happening and explain it a little, I just want them to get on with it.

And even though this book didn't make me want to cry, it was still pretty much perfect in my mind.

28. The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater is a book that I swear everyone read before me.

Seriously, everyone and their grandmother has read this book before I did. Unless you haven't read it yet, then I suggest you go and start reading right this moment.

I'll admit, it was hard to get into at first. Maggie Stiefvater's writing style had me unconsciously skipping over details. I had to go back and re-read the fourth chapter after reading it the first time because I missed so many things.

Sometimes the point of view switches between chapters are super obvious, but other times they're not. It was very hard to differentiate between the boy's point of views when they are all in the same place unless it was glaringly obvious. Sometimes I'd read a whole chapter and not realize I was in Gansey's head (sort of) rather than Adam's head.

Sometimes I wanted Blue to just blurt everything out! She is very frustrating when she knows a lot more than she's telling them. She just needs to let them know in my opinion.

The one thing that really bugged me about this book was that Blue called her mother by her first name. That and I still have no idea who Orla and Calla are or if they are even related to Blue or not.

Other than that, I think I've got most of it and I'm pretty excited to read the next book. I actually got excited to read the second one only while half-way through this one. That's how excited I am.

Don't judge, you know you've done it at least once as well.

So if you were like me and haven't read this book yet, go and do it. I even told my boss she should read this book. Seriously. There are so many good things about it!

27. Ink - Amanda Sun

Ink by Amanda Sun is

When I picked up this book in the store, the lady said that if (I can't remember her name) her coworker hadn't put this down as her staff pick then she would have.

However, I'm going to admit I didn't like it. So much to the point at page 72 I stopped reading and haven't picked it back up. I was pretty bored and I do plan on trying to read it again soon and when I do I'll let you know and I'll update this review but for now it's going to stay unfinished while I read books that I have more interest in first.

But I do plan on coming back to it!

February Wrap-Up and March TBR

February was another good month for reading for me!

1. The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater
-okay, can I just say that this book may be one of my top five reads of 2016 already and it's only February. I'm serious.

2. Cinder - Marissa Meyer
-I shouldn't have picked up this book until after Easter. Because it's lent and I gave up book buying and I don't own the next one and my book hangover lasted like a week and a half after finishing this. I couldn't even function properly at work.

3. The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan
-I re-read this and I'm so glad I did! I plan on trying to finish re-reading the whole series this year!

4. The Dream Thieves - Maggie Stiefvater
-I can't even begin to say how much I love this.

March is going to be very hard to decide what to read. But here are a few options that I'd like to read.

1. Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard
-the second book came out on the first day of lent and it's haunted me ever since. So I figured I better read this so I can get the second one if I like it right after Easter.

2. Blue Lily, Lily Blue- Maggie Stiefvater
-I can't get enough of this series at the moment

3. Rebel Belle - Rachel Hawkins
- I feel like I need to get on this level.

4. Spirit Bound - Richelle Mead
-I seriously need to finish this book. Like soon.

February 28, 2016

26. End of Days - Susan Ee

End of Days by Susan Ee didn't make me as angry as the first two.

This was also probably my favourite book in the series.

I seriously loved it so much.

I gave this book five stars when I gave the first one three and the second one four. It's because they slowly got better and better as time went on. And I also found out that originally there was going to be five books but she condensed them into just three and I'm actually kind of disappointed that she didn't stick with the original plan.

Penryn earns the name 'Angel Slayer' and with that built up confidence she becomes super badass in this book. Like seriously, her and her family are my favourite characters of all time. They are so dysfunctional and scary that they function perfectly together.

It's going to be alright if I spoil this one a little because it is the third and final book so why are you reading this if you haven't read the first two anyways?

The Watchers are probably some of the coolest slash funniest characters in this book aside from Penryn and her family. And when that thing that happened to Beliel, I almost wanted to cry for him. Almost. I mean it all makes sense now why he did what he did. I know he kind of deserved it but when he said "I knew I recognized your voice" my heart kind of broke.

I actually have a favourite quote from this book and it's "Power is best held by the ones who don't want it." I actually liked it on goodreads because it was fantastic.

Also, the twins were fantastic in here. I love their talent show ideas and just them in general. I kind of wish they were my best friends. There would never be a dull moment.

As long as you can get through the first book (kind of like I did) then you'll learn to love the rest of this series. I still wonder why the first book made me so angry anyways.

February Haul

I was very good this month, only four books were purchased. I gave up buying books for lent and lent started on Ash Wednesday (February 10th) so I didn't have a whole lot of time left for buying books. But that's okay. I just have to last until Easter....

1. The Queen of the Tearling - Erika Johansen
- it's been on my to-buy list for so long and I finally found it (only for $6 as well) and I'm super happy!

2. Zeroes - Scott Westerfeld
- I'll be honest. When I saw this book on Instagram, all there was is the back of the book (not the summary because it was a hardcover copy) and I don't know much about it. But I saw it and remember that I liked what the back had said and bought it.

3. Nightfall - Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski
- I have heard so many good things about this book and I'm really interested in reading it!

4. Reached - Ally Condie
- its another one of those sequel buys that I happen to do so much. Oops.

That's it! This is the shortest haul I've done on here so far!

March probably won't have a haul unless someone buys me a book, then it will. Which is highly unlikely.

February 21, 2016

25. Of Neptune - Anna Banks

Of Neptune by Anna Banks is still a little confusing to me a few months after I read it.

My first thought after reading Of Triton was that this book was not necessary. The only real scene I figured I needed ended up being the last one in the whole book.

But nope. Anna gave us a whole other plot thing to worry about. I got where everything came from but I still didn't see the need for this book.

There were two villains though this book and I still am not sure if they knew each other or not. Most of it was kind of a blur.

Also, I didn't really like Reed at all. He was a player and full of himself at most points. His younger sibling however, was pretty funny and cute. (In a little kid sort of way.)

The more time that has passed since I read this book, the more I think it really didn't need to be written. I still loved most of it.

But seriously, when Galen leaves, Emma would/should have worried more. Like, he has never done that before so you seriously should have been a tad more worried about the whole situation. Galen would have been.

I gave it 5 stars, more like 4.75 though. I loved it but it had a lot of flaws and didn't really measure up to the awesomeness of the first two books that came before it.

(I just noticed but this picture is really blurry, so sorry about that.)

24. The Outsiders - S.E. Hinton

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is one of my favourite books I've ever read in school.

The first time I read this I was probably 13 years old and I couldn't just read it in my 8th grade English class alongside everyone and the teacher. I had to go home and finish the whole thing myself first.

And all I remember is balling my eyes out.

This was the first book that probably ever made me cry and I loved it so much.

As I read this a second time, I just would read a line and remember talking about it in detail in class and it was actually kind of funny to me.

I forgot all of the details of what happened in this book but I was glad I re-read it. Right before the rumble happened I couldn't read it anymore for some reason and put it down. But I picked it up the next day and finished off the last 20 pages or so.

My next plan is to watch the movie before I start reading my next book.

If you never had the opportunity to read this book in school like I did, then I highly recommend you go out and pick up a copy to read right now. Even if it's a library copy or borrowing a friends. Heck, borrow my copy if you want to.

You have to read this book before you turn 25. At least. If not, before you die please. You're never too old for a good book.

23. Shadow Kiss - Richelle Mead

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead is a book that messed with my heart in more ways than one.

If you have read this book, you'll know why. Rose really grew up after the last events in the previous book, Frostbite. So here in Shadow Kiss, most of her actions don't surprise me.

The final assignment they have to do as a class is really, really cool to me for some reason. I just loved the idea and loved everything that happened during it.

Lissa is a lot less hopeless in this book and I actually loved her a lot. After reading this one it made me feel like she was kind of damsel in distress-like in the previous two books.

Christian steps up to the plate and I love that him and Rose get along so well after some time. I mean, I've always loved him from the start but ever since he started to fight with fire power, he's become super badass. Especially a little later on in the book. I won't spoil it for you.

Eddie has become probably one of my favourite characters. I just feel terrible about him and his experiences in Frostbite and I just want to hug him. Even though I know that he's a strong 'guardian' (we all know he's stepped up to the plate and earned that title).

Rose's mom is actually awesome. I love her even if Rose doesn't.

Dimitri FINALLY. That's all I've got to say. But also later on he makes me cry. Like balled my eyes out crying and had to put the book down for a bit. Actually I kind of feel like crying over it right now.

I honestly have no idea how there are three books after this one.

Well I get the fourth one (which I am starting tomorrow) and what has to happen in it. But I don't see how there are to be two more after that. I guess I'll just have to read them to find out.

At the end of the book, a lot of things happen.

I fell in love with Adrian, cried my eyes out cause Dimitri, and wanted to punch Rose in the face. I wanted to hug Lissa and reassure her about everything and I didn't want to say goodbye to Mason finally.

And that is all I'm going to say.

I rated this book 4 stars, more like 4.5, on my goodreads.

January Wrap-Up and February TBR

Well, let's see if I did better than November and December...

1. The Calling - Kelley Armstrong

2. The Summoning - Kelley Armstrong

3. The Awakening - Kelley Armstrong

4. The Reckoning - Kelley Armstrong

5. The Rising - Kelley Armstrong

Well, as you can see, this was a month for Kelley Armstrong. I re-read her Darkest Powers Trilogy and read the second and third book in her Darkness Rising trilogy. They take place in the same universe and I was very happy to see characters from Darkest Powers show up in the final Darkness rising book.

Very happy actually. It kind of made my year. I just really, really love these books and this universe and I want so badly for there to be more.

Anywho, onto the books I'm hopefully going to read in February.

1. The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater
- I started this one actually on the 31st and I know nothing about it other than the fact that everyone loves it so I know it's probably going to be amazing.

2. Spirit Bound - Richelle Mead
- I promise I'll finish it this month. Promise.

3. Percy Jackson.... The lightning Thief
- That's a long title so I didn't type it all because this has to go up really soon. Actually this also happens to be a re-read and you all know what it is so yea. I'm really looking forward to this one!

4. Bitten - Kelley Armstrong
- I'm still on my Kelley Armstrong kick and I need it to continue so I'm probably going to start this with-in the next few days.

January 31, 2016

22. Darkest Powers (Trilogy) - Kelley Armstrong

The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong is worth a re-read.

I did actually re-read them just to write this one too. Because when I first read them, it was forever ago and I read them all so quickly that I can't remember the different things that happened in each book.

So, let's talk about these three books individually. As much as I can because it is very hard to think of them as three different books when you read them all at the same time. They kind of mush together in my brain.

The Summoning, amazing. Kelley Armstrong's writing makes you feel like time is passing slowly however, so many things are happening in so little time and it lets you soak it up easily. That is probably why I love anything Kelley Armstrong writes.

In the Summoning we are introduced to Chloe, obviously though... she is the main character, and she may have her faults but she is pretty amazing. She has her reasons for freaking out (ghosts mostly) but for the most part she is really good at keeping calm when she needs to. Mostly when ghosts aren't around.

We also meet some other major characters along the way. Simon, Liz, Derek, Tori, Rae, and Chloe's Aunt Lauren. A few more that I can't remember the names of but these are the ones that pop up the most. My personal favourites happen to be Simon, Derek, Liz, and Tori. If you don't like Derek or Tori you need to keep reading onto the next book.

The Awakening most definitely has more stuff going on. More ghosts, more running, more bushes. More of just everything really. It's amazing. If you liked The Summoning then you'll love The Awakening.

Never a dull moment in The Awakening. There seems to always be something going on and Derek is always there to rescue Chloe and the rest of them. Though, for the most part they can take care of themselves. Especially Tori.

Though (of course) most things get real when we finally get into the third book, The Reckoning. This book is my favourite mostly due to the cemetery scene. When I first read this book that was the scene that stuck in my head the most and it's what I know I'll remember whenever I think about these books.

I don't know why that scene stays in my head almost perfectly throughout these years, but it mostly reminds me how amazing this trilogy is.

If you've never read this trilogy, I highly suggest that you pick it up and read it now. It's worth it.

January Haul

Alright I was bad this month, but I have an excuse for some of it and it's all Indigo's fault.

1. The Rain - Virginia Bergin
- this is a series I've never heard of before and it sounded really awesome to me.

2. The Storm - Virginia Bergin
- so awesome I bought the second book too!

3. Sweet Evil - Wendy Higgin's
- this one has been on my to-buy list forever and I finally saw a copy at the store, so I went for it!

4. The Empty Throne - Cayla Kluver
- this is the second book and I wanted to grab it while it was still in hardcover so that it would match the first one.

5. Surrender
and
6. Abandon
by: Elana Johnson
- they were running low at the store and I wanted to grab the rest of the series before they got ran out. (That's justified right?)

These next nine books are because Indigo emailed me saying "We topped up your points from $50 off to $100 off and this will go back to normal on Sunday."

Yea, so I got nine books for a total of $16. That's pretty dang good!

7. The Three Musketeers

8. Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

9. Treasure Island

10. Siege and Storm - Leigh Bardugo

11. Ruin and Rising - Leigh Bardugo

12. The Iron Daughter - Julie Kagawa

13. Bloodlines - Richelle Mead

14. The Golden Lily - Richelle Mead

15. Goodbye, Rebel Blue - Shelley Coriell

I also got a few beauty slash lifestyle books which is weird for me. (Yes I am aware that three of these four are YouTuber books and I love them.)

16. Twentysomething Girl

17. Life With a Sprinkle of Glitter - Louise Pentland

18. Love, Tanya - Tanya Burr

19. Make Up - Michelle Phan

And that's it. Wow, I really was good this month. Go me!

21. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - Seth Grahame-Smith

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith is worth the long read.

I read this book a few years ago while I was in a reading slump. I started it one February weekend at the lake and finished it exactly one year later on the same weekend. With little chapter reads in between.

Maybe that' why it felt like a long read to me but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

The details of the history of Abraham's life amazed me. And the battles he fought were fantastically written. At some points I couldn't get enough.

At others, however, I was extremely bored.

I loved pretty much everything until he became president. All of the battles he was in with the vampires and how he found love. How he lived and his friend Henry who taught him a lot of the things he knew about vampires.

Henry was probably my favourite character in the whole book actually.

Some of the characters I would get messed up because there became a point where I couldn't differentiate between a few of them. So I'd have to go back and remember which one was which a couple times. Though, I think that's just because I read this over such a long period of time.

I gave it a 4 stars on goodreads although it's more of a 3.5 star rating.

A great read but not one of my favourites.

20. From Bad To Cursed - Katie Alender

From Bad To Cursed by Katie Alender is an amazing second book after Bad Girls Don't Die.

I was thinking this book, trying so hard to remember what it was about and it suddenly hit me at full force. It hasn't been long since I read it, I just read it over such a long period of time.

In the first book there was a haunted doll. In this second one we have a group of girls worshipping a demon who makes them pretty. So yea its a bit different, but it's still fantastically creepy in all the right places.

The main character goes through a lot of different things. Like trying to protect her sister and keep her boyfriend out of her ghost filled life.

In the end she sets us up for the third book perfectly.

I loved this book probably the most out of all the three. There are just so many interesting things about it that I can't even explain how much I loved it.

19. World After - Susan Ee

World After by Susan Ee is the second instalment of the Penryn and the End of Days series.

For some reason I thought that this book wouldn't make me as angry as the first book 'Angelfall'. Wow was I wrong.

I actually picked up the The Outsiders to re-read alongside this one.

Don't get me wrong, I love this series. They are amazing books and Susan Ee is an amazing writer. I actually love the way she writes. There is just something that happens to me when I read them and I get so angry.

It's kind of like that one person who makes you angry or pissed off all the time but you don't know why. They've never done anything to make you angry at them, but yet once you see their face you become so angry and just wish they'd leave.

Her family is still pretty badass.

I actually wasn't angry for the middle part of the book but once Raffe showed up again I got angry again. I don't know why though.

I just really hope that Penryn won't have to go looking for her sister Paige in the third book. Because I swear if she does, then we gonna have some problems.

The fight scenes in this book were amazing. I loved the dreams she had with Pooky Bear (don't ask its a spoiler). And I absolutely loved her sword fight with Burnt and what happened after it. Seriously, no matter how upset Paige's condition makes me, she is the most badass seven year old I've ever see. Or read about I guess.

This book was far better than the first one and I gave it a 4.25 on my goodreads.

18. Of Triton - Anna Banks

Of Triton by Anna Banks is never a dull moment.

Firstly let me say that Emma's mom is so funny at the start of this book.

Spoilers: she basically kidnaps Emma and I couldn't stop laughing the whole time.

This book really does show how badass Emma really is and a new side to her. All of the characters are really viewed in a sort of new way. It's kind of like seeing their second skin in a way.

Seriously, this whole book made me so happy and kind of giddy in a way. I was smiling the whole time (well almost, there was quite a bit of betrayal) and I couldn't put it down until I had it finished.

I couldn't help but say to myself 'plot twist' on many occasions. Even if I saw it coming.

It was just so exciting.

I just secretly wished there was more, and she could have made it just as humorous as the first one but it wasn't really. But I guess the epicness of it made up for that a little bit.

I just don't understand why people were so disappointed with this book. I guess the only real disappointment was Emma's mom. She didn't have a real explanation to why she did what she did and as soon as she saw Grom again she was right back in the water saying she missed it and whatever.

I don't like Emma's mom.

(Book selfie just for fun. :) )

December Wrap-Up and January TBR

I hardly read anything and finished it this month... oops...

1. Deadly Class, Vol. 1: Reagan Youth - Rick Remender
-bought it and finished it before I got home.

I think that's all I finished this month... right and now onto books I started but didn't finish...

1. Spirit Bound - Richelle Mead

2. I Hunt Killers - Barry Lyga

3. Debutantes - Corra Harrison

4. Life and Death - Stephanie Meyer

5. The Martian - Andy Weir

6. Darkest Powers Trilogy - Kelley Armstrong
- I have all three in one giant book and I started re-reading them during my long road trips for the holidays.

I plan on finishing Darkest Powers Trilogy then The Martian and then Spirit Bound. After that who knows what will happen. I don't. I'm so bad.

What do I want to read in January? Well, probably just look back at my December TBR because it's basically the same thing...

Wish me luck! I set my reading goal for 2016 at 30 books, let's see how this is going to go...
