75. Always and Forever, Lara Jean - Jenny Han

I never wanted this to end.

Lara Jean holds a special place in my heart.

Honestly, I wouldn't care of she ended up with Peter or not. I just loved reading about her and realizations she had while growing. Part of me - a big part of me - wants to keep reading about her life. Forever. I love her to death.

This final book, I'll admit was slightly disappointing near the end. Slightly! Only because I need more in my life. It can't just end like that. I mean, the movie came out and that was amazing and cute and I love it as much as I love the books (even if they skip parts).

But I NEED University Lara Jean, please.

I need older Lara Jean figuring things out and I need her to tell me how she's doing.

Five stars, obviously. Ten if I could rate higher than Goodreads lets me.

74. Waistcoats & Weaponry - Gail Carriger

Book 3 was amazing. This series just kept getting better the more I read.

I think book 3 ended up being my favourite book too.

I love Soap and Felix both and they both got shot which hurts.

Even if it's neither of them. I don't care who she picks.

This series soothes my heart. And I know it'll crush me but I'm ready.

I need to know what'll happen ASAP. The next book will hopefully be here soon. Then I'll feel complete.

73. Two Years, Eight Months, and Twenty-Eight Nights - Salman Rushdie

I have heard good things about this author and was pulled in by the concept and the book cover. However, this was a weird read for me.

Written very well but too 'smart' for me. It took me a while to get into it. The writing style was just a little weird to me and for the longest time, I had no idea what was happening or where this story was trying to go. I didn't know what he was trying to tell me at all.

Although, the last bit, as soon as Mr. Geromino isn't floating anymore, I absolutely loved!

If this story was written in a different style, I would be fangirling over it and I would have finished in no time flat. I really wish it was that amazing book I hoped it could be but it wasn't.

It wasn't bad, just not for me. I gave it 3 stars.

72. Winter - Marissa Meyer

Welcome to the end.

I honestly put off reading this book for so long because I didn't want it to ever end. I still haven't read fairest either because I'd like to think that this world will never disappear.

I never want to say goodbye to any of these characters.

Cress finally got her happily ever after. I feel awful for Wolf but go him and Scarlet! Cinder's life finally came together and the moon is finally her's! For now. It was a sad and beautiful ending and I'll have a bookhangover for a couple of weeks probably, it was that amazing.

I mean, all of us always want more anyways. But I loved everything about this and the ending was perfect. Unlike some other endings of some other books that I may or may not be salty about still.

Winter, however, was amazing. Although I wish I could see what their future day-to-day could be after the big win, I know that's not how this stuff works.

Now I must convince myself to read Fairest and accept that this story is over. Good luck to me.

71. A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sara J. Maas

I finished this yesterday for one of my NEWT's and I gave it 4 stars.

My reason for not giving it 5 stars was because it didn't like blow me away. Like it was amazing and good but it wasn't crazy good.

Does that make any sense?

But I'm having such book hangover right now I'm debating my star rating. Maybe once I continue on with the series and eventually reread it, I'll raise it but this book hangover is too real.

I still have no idea how to properly pronounce the main character's name but that's fine. I've been pronouncing it as Farrah but its probably more like Fairy. Oh well, just goes to show that I cannot English.

I can see how this is a Beauty and the Beast re-telling, which was an amazing part of the story itself. But it was also very different and so amazing and wonderful.

I love all the characters and I do have the s\urge to either re-read it now or carry on to the next book but I can't because NEWT's.

I'll pick it up immediately after.

70. The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Attwood

I read this before I heard about the show and it was creepy enough. So when I watched the first episode and found that it brought the creep factor even higher, I stopped.

After I finished this book I had a million questions. Where does this take place? When? Where does she go? Who takes her? Where is Luke? Where is her daughter? Who told on her? Is she pregnant? What is her real name? Tell me these things!

Luckily, there's a TV show for me to watch (even if it is creepy) and a sequel is finally in the works.

This book, however, was amazing. I fell in love with Margaret Attwood through this and I bought more of her books to dive into.

I'll admit, it does take some time to get used to her writing at first, but once you climb that wall... it's a beautiful view. So I'll continue to read her stuff and love it. I started Alias Grace just recently and I'm super into it.

If you like the TV show then you should read this. Honestly, read this first then get your answers from the TV show after. Plus the sequel. Trust me.

68. The Martian - Any Weir

Some space survival, Mars, and lots of stupid jokes. Talk about my cup of tea.

This book leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Holy shit. I never thought I would love a Mars survival story as much as I do now. So much so that I bought the sequel.

The humour in this book was also 100%.

I didn't even care that I didn't understand any of the science stuff they were talking about. I honestly didn't need to understand it to have a fun time reading this book.

My boss borrowed this book and read it before I did and she left me little page numbers that were her favourites and it was nice to see which ones those were as I read them. She loved the movie beforehand and had no idea that it was based off a book. I really did enjoy the movie after reading the book as well. But there were just some great humour jokes that the movie missed that I absolutely adored in the book.

I cannot wait to read the next book, Artemis.

67. A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle

A cute kids story with some weird visuals.

So this book was kind of awesome. If I read it when I was a kid I think I would have loved it even more than I do now.

I don't like Meg's faults as the main character but those main character faults I will choose to ignore, mostly because every main character has them.

The move was pretty to see but they skipped my favourite character, Aunt Beast. Like, c'mon people. And the climax/final battle was really nothing like the book. They missed some very important stuff. Oh well, I guess.

Also, wtf was that flying LEAF. No, just no.

I don't own this book, I borrowed it, but I don't know yet if I'll purchase it. The movie I'll definitely never buy. (I also saw it with my boyfriend and he didn't like the movie at all, so there's that.)

66. Leia - Claudia Gray

I didn't think I needed this as badly as I did.

For my first Star Wars fan-fiction-type book, I freaking loved it!

I wanted soooo much more of this. So much more from Leia's point of view. I couldn't get enough.

I need to read more of Leia and far more Star Wars nooks very soon.

There's so much I think I'll be able to get answers to through these books. Also, Darth Vader was not mentioned once. So where the heck he at?

Everyone would have been afraid of him? But nope.

If you want to read from the Princess' point of view with a light and easy Star Wars book, then you should definitely start here. It's probably the easiest place to begin.

65. The Raven King - Maggie Stiefvater

A finale we've all wanted oh so badly.

I marked this in my bullet journal as probably one of my favourite reads of 2018.

But I also finished it on March 11, so it was very soon to tell.

The beautiful ending to this beautiful series. I kind of expected the king to be dead, not gonna lie.

I'll still have to re-read this series a million times before I finally absorb everything that happens but that's totally fine with me.

Also, two power couples at play here!

I will admit, the kiss and the climax was kind of underwhelming - after I thought about it for a while. But I still keep it at 5 stars and I will read these again soon.

Not to mention now there's a series featuring Ronan and Adam (even though it's separate from the Raven Cycle and is a completely new idea and filled with new things) I will be reading immediately.

64. P.S. I Still Love You - Jenny Han

Sweet, sweet teen romance.

I think this book was my favourite out of all of the Lara Jean ones. I loved John Ambrose McClaren.

However, I think I will always love the second choice of the main characters. I always love the boy they donèt choose because I want them for myself. (Example; I want Jacob and Bella can have Edward. I hope that helps.)

I also love his grandmother so, so, so much. From the bottom of my heart.

Every character in here is just overwhelmingly amazing and  I can never get enough of them. I'm going to have to read all three books back to back one day and cry all over again.

63. Recreated and Reunited - Colleen Houck

Book two. Let me tell you, I picked up the wrong book the day I started to read this. I accidentally picked up the third book and read about 30 pages on my lunch break and was filled with confusion left and right. Which was also how book three starts, because our main character has no memory. So I thought I was just losing it,

However, when I finally picked up the real second book, it was much more clear.

I then read these two back to back so I'm going to talk about them together.

I loved them. There are obvious slaws as there is with Colleen Houk's Tiger's Curse series, mostly that would offend the religions involved, but I like her ideas. And I wanted more out of an ending.

Spoilers:

Everyone fucking died. Even people who were nowhere near death. And the main girl and love interest split off at the end in isolation like Tiger's Curse. Frustrating AF.

61. Lady Renegades - Rachel Hawkins

The finale of a strange concept.

This book is the last in a trilogy that started off amazing. I love Harper, she stays her girly self the whole way through and yes I loved this a lot but it also has so many flaws.

The first book was the best. It will always be the best.

However, I don't think I'll re-read it any time soon. Because of how salty I am.

This was nothing I ever expected and I think I needed something this refreshing. A girly girl who insists on being in charge of everything becomes a badass warrior and she's amazing at it. I would have honestly loved this more if I read it in like junior high or something like that.

Spoilers:

Why the fuck did they kill David and why the fuck did she leave?

 I'm a little salty.

60. Hollow City - Ransom Riggs

To be honest, I didn't know how long it was going to take me to pick up this book because the first one felt a little like nothing had happened in it so I figured the second would also be a tad boring. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book was much better.

What do I mean by better?

Well, it was more fast-paced. There were more defined goals for the kids. They needed to get somewhere and do something rather than Jacob just finding out what his grandfather used to do. They're going around with people chasing them. There are fights and life-threatening situations that they have to get through and we learn a heck of a lot more about the peculiar world. Which by the way is awesome.

Just saying, my best friend is Addison and she is in love with dogs and when I told her about Addison the dog we were both laughing our pants off.

The different things they see and encounter on their adventure and the pictures included are awesome. I don't think I could even look at my own pictures from a trip I've been on and make a story from it. That's creativity.

I also love the extra photos in the back that he didn't end up using. Those are cool too. The best picture book I've ever read.

So please, if you read the first book and thought it was a little meh, pick up this one. It's much better. Not even the movie was this good. Actually, after this book, I can see why other people found the movie so disappointing.

Five stars!

58. Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is everything I needed.

This book got me out of a reading slump and straight into a bookhangover. I couldn't even make proper conversations at work because I was just so deep in thought, thinking about it while I was reading it. My boss probably thought there was something wrong with me. I finished it yesterday and there is still something wrong with me.

The good thing is I have the next three books so I can continue ASAP. The bad thing is I'm doing a readathon this month (the OWLs from a YouTuber I cannot remember the name of but I heard about it through ReadByZoe) so like I have specific books I need to read this month. So those books are just going to have to wait a bit. And I'm going to suffer.

Red Queen was my Defence Against the Dark Arts book.

Still, I need some people to talk to about this book so hit me up if you've read it and we can chat. Because of that plot twist though!

55. The Uncle Duncle Chronicles; Escape from Treasure Island - Darren Krill

I read this in grade six I think, for a novel study. Recently I found it at a used bookstore and knew I wanted to read it again to see if I loved it this time as much as I loved it the first time.

I have never read Treasure Island - I own it and it's on a list for my new book club to read in 2020 during one month - but this book is so cute and childish I can't help but love it!

In this book, Sage's uncle that's been on so many adventures finally gets to take him along with him. They go flying off and Uncle Duncle tells Sage that he has this magic stone that will take them anywhere they want to go. Time and place. It will transport them anywhere. They just need the momentum of the plane (falling) to get there.

Sage panics and they get stuck on Treasure Island, right in the middle of the story.

I'll probably have more to say after I finally read the actual Treasure Island but I love this book so much I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

49. I Was Here - Gayle Forman

Well. I have a lot to say about this one.

It took me like a year to read this because it started off slow. Once I really got into it however, it took me like three hours to power through.

For starters; the online guy was a fucking dick and I wish he had been the dead one all along. But I still cried like a baby when Cody finally accepted that her best friend was dead. That and her best friend killed herself because of depression.

It wasn't the best book but it sends some good messages.

Problems I had with this book mostly revolved around Cody, the main character. She is so freaking dense and refuses to accept anything that she doesn't believe. I understanding not being able to fully accept your best friend is dead, but this girl needs to take some therapy or something to help her move on. Not obsessing over her best friends last few months of living.

That's why it took me so long to read it originally. Because Cody just irks me and I needed her to stop. If that makes any sense.

I gave this one 4 stars because it still made me cry terribly.

50. All The Light We Cannot See - Anthony Doerr

Top five books of all time. Probably second after The Lovely Bones. Here is why:

This book lifted me up and got me to the highest point of happiness and amazement before it crushed me, my heart, and my dreams.

If you've read it, then you know why.

They met and it was beautiful and I should have stopped reading right there and let the memory of the day those two had together live on forever with me wondering what happened after. I should have stopped and let my heart have a good day.

Instead, I had to finish the book and cry.

Most times, we need to get a glance into the future and see what happens, but this was not one of those times.

Spoilers:

He fucking died. He got captured and got sick and then fucking died.

Additionally: I gave this to my grandma to read and her review is...

The first 3/4 is kind of boring but the last bit is worth it. She finished it instead of talking to me while we waited for dinner so I assume its a good sign.

48. Curtsies & Conspiracies - Gail Carriger

Book 2 in this series made me happy so I kept reading it.

I flew through this book! No struggles to read at all. I'm pretty sure I finished it in two days actually.

Also, this love triangle that developed. Soap VS. [a] Lord (something - I can't remember), is the best love triangle and both are great choices (to me at least). So I cannot wait to see who she picks (although I have a pretty good idea).

I've been in pain trying to not read the next one so quickly so that I can soak it all in and really know what I'm going in to.

I have a rule with myself that I cannot read books in a series back-to-back because if I do then I get them all mushed into one long story (which I mean they are but,) if I want to talk to someone about a specific book in that series or write about it here I need to be able to know where one story ends and the next one begins. Make sense?

So as painful as waiting to read the last book is, I will wait. But for real, this book is my favourite in the whole series so far.

53. The Darkhouse - Barbara Radecki

The Darhouse by Barbara Radecki is a short book filled with twists and turns.

I picked this book up originally because it could fit in a small purse and its written by a Canadian who did one of the voices for a Sailor Scout on Sailor Moon. So, hell yeah.

This shit is wild. From a normal boring island life, to the craziest shit you ever read. The main character's dad had told her that her mother was crazy and so he took her away from her when she was a baby and brought her to this island where her crazy mother would never find her. For her own safety of course.

She wasn't allowed off the island.

Then she finds this cave and honestly I figured he was crazy enough to keep her mom under there because he didn't seem like a good dad to begin with.

Bot no. This secret is much more terrifying and just the whole deal is awful. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I really think more people need to hear about it.
