5. The Selection - Kiera Cass

The Selection by Kiera Cass is the beginning of a book series that I will not be finishing, probably ever.

There is so much that I just don't understand about this book.

Why is in the teen section of the book store? Why do so many people seem to like it so much? How was this even published? Why is the cover so pretty?

Because honestly this book does not deserve such a beautiful front cover.

I never wanted to really pick up this book in the first place. I'd read the summary for it on various occasions but each time I re-read the back of that book it seemed like a book idea I would never care for.

So while watching my aunt's house for a weekend I asked my cousin if I could give it a read to see what all the hype was about.

I finished it in about five hours total, but I had a lot of breaks due to its pure annoyance to me. So in reality it took me about a day and a half. But I finished it.

So let me rant for a little bit.

This author had a great idea with good intentions and I could see that so clearly.

But...

It wasn't written very well. Seriously, why is this under the teen section? It should be in the 9-12 area of the store. Because that is who this writing style is really for.

There was very little explanation to what was happening and things were really too fast-paced for me. Seriously, the main girl (can't remember her name because I could care less) just pulled things out of her ass that weren't there before.

One minute she's all lovey-dovey with the prince and wanting to kiss him so badly but the next she's making out in secret with her x-boyfriend.

My heart actually hurts over how terrible this really was.

But I wanted it to be good for some reason and it just wasn't. It was so bad that I can't even begin to describe how much I want people to stop blowing this up and making it sound good because it was awful.

I gave it 2 stars, but really more like a 1.5. Because when I give 1 star it means I didn't finish reading it. But I finished this one so I gave it a slightly higher rating.

I really wish I didn't even read it in the first place. It was so painful.

Sorry to anyone who liked it but I just absolutely hated it.

I don't have a picture because I refuse to purchase it or even take a photo of it.

If you'd like me to read/ review a book, just leave a comment below! I'll try not to give too many spoilers or give too much away while reviewing the books, but if I do, also let me know so I can give warnings to anyone who hasn't read the books before. I appreciate all feedback, but please be respectful on constructive criticism.

Everyone's opinions are valuable so please don't make anyone feel terrible for having their own opinion on a book. Just because it's different from yours does not mean it's the wrong opinion.
