13. Girl of Nightmares - Kendare Blake

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake is the second instalment of the Anna Dressed in Blood duology.

I was so excited to get to read this book when I found out there was a second one.

I started reading, it had everything I loved from the first book. A male's point of view, red print instead of black, and killing ghosts.

However as the book went on I found myself more wanting to finish it  just to get it over and done with rather than wanting to continue reading it to figure out what's going to happen. It didn't suck me in like the first one nor did it really keep my attention like the first one did.

It was not a terrible book and I did not hate it, I just felt bored reading it.

Some parts were very interesting and not what I was expecting, which is why I probably kept reading. But the book as a whole felt very dry to me for some reason.

Maybe I just wanted to love it so much that I jinxed myself.

For this reason this book only got a 4 star rating on my goodreads whereas the previous book was given a 5 star rating.

Although, I did really like this cover over the first one.

12. Tiger's Curse - Colleen houck

Tiger's Curse by Colleen houck is everything I never knew I needed and wanted in a series.

This series I will talk about as a whole because I read all four books in the matter of about five days before I started college.

My aunt had actually said to me after I bought the second book that I should calm down. And when I went in looking for the fourth book and they only had it in hardcover she told me I should wait but I just couldn't.

This series follows a girl named Kelsey who gets a job at a circus for a couple weeks in the summer and finds herself pretty much obsessed with the white tiger they have. Well, tigers are already my favourite animal but when she's invited to bring the tiger back to India to bring it to a nature reserve, thing get a bit more difficult.

She has found herself in the middle of a curse that she needs to help break by collecting different items that are scattered everywhere. There is so much research done for these books that I couldn't even imagine how long it took Colleen to write these.

And just when you think it can't get any better, it goes ahead and surprises you.

Especially the last book, that was filled with a bunch of plot twists that I couldn't see coming. I mean maybe if my brother read these books he might see it but that's because he's my brother and he sucks.

I gave every book five stars and added them to my favourites because I loved them so much.

I plan on re-reading them as soon as I get through my ever growing pile of TBR books.

So hopefully soon.

11. If I Stay - Gayle Forman

If I Stay by Gayle Forman is one of those obvious cry like you mean it books.

I'll admit, I saw the movie first. Late one night while drinking with my friend and we cried the whole time because Adam and Mia had instantly become out OTP for life. They are just so cute together it's perfection.

Even in  the book their history of dating made me want something similar. Well except for the whole other part of the book.

This book is half in the present where Mia and her family were in a car accident and half of her life. Like when she and Adam went on their first date and when she saw her brother being born.

It made me cry several times, so if you don't like to cry during books then don't read this one because though it is a very happy and cute book, it is equally sad and devastating.

Though I have the second book and haven't read it yet, I'm very nervous to read it. If you have hear about this duology before then you would know why but if you haven't then I won't spoil it for you. All I do know is that this book made me cry harder than I cried while reading 'The Outsiders' in grade eight.

And I cried like a baby reading that one.

The parts I cried the most are when her grandpa talked to her, when her best friend talked to her, and when Adam talked to her. And the funniest part was when Adam got the one famous girl and her group of friends to try and break into the ICU.

Sorry if I spoiled it for you there. But I promise it's worth the read. Or you could just get drunk and watch the movie like I did.

10. Of Poseidon - Anna banks

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks is surprisingly beautiful.

I just knew I was going to like this book, I didn't know I was going to love it.

To be honest I almost wanted to stop after the first few chapters because it seemed like it was going to be a sad and goreish book, but it wasn't. The main character Emma is strong and not just like physically, but mentally as well.

I realize that this book will not be for everyone even though I loved it so much I gave it 5 stars on goodreads.

It was a different kind of mermaid/Syrena book than I would have expected but it was amazing in my eyes nonetheless.

Though I had a little trouble at the end because it ends kind of on a cliffhanger that I really did see from the beginning but only brings up the issue right on the last line of the book. Which is a little frustrating so of course I go to get the next book the next day and well would you look at that. They didn't have the second or third book in stock.

So I waited quite a bit to see what happens afterwards.

My advice to you is if you fall in love with this book and know for a fact that you're going to read the next one then buy it while you're still halfway through the second.

Or that's going to be some serious suffering on your part. Trust me, I've been there.

I really do hope to read more mermaid books in the future, I just have got to find some because they seem pretty rare.

October Wrap-up and November TBR

October I managed to read 4.6 books (The .6 counts). Here's those books and a small blurb about what I thought about them. Promise it won't ruin my reviews.

1. The Rosie Project - Graeme Simsion
-I actually didn't finish this one... but I have my reasons. Wasn't my type of book, even though it was quite enjoyable.

2. End of Days - Susan Ee
-LOVED IT! My favourite book in the series (obviously).

3. Girl Online On Tour - Zoe Sugg (Zoella)
-I needed this book in my life more than anyone understands.

4. The Gathering - Kelley Armstrong
-I fell in love with this book with-in the first chapter.

There was also a few books I started and didn't finish but will hopefully finish within the next few days.

1. Spirit Bound - Richelle Mead
-I only got a few chapters in but I still love it so much.

2. I Hunt  Killers - Barry Lyga
-I had planned to start this on Halloween and finish it the same day but that really didn't happen.

3.Debutantes - Cora Harrison
-It feels like I've had this on my shelf forEVER.

4. The 5th Wave - Rick Yancey
-the movie is coming out soon and I need to read this book!!

In November my list to read is very short because November is NaNoWriMo time so a lot of my time is going to be spent writing rather than reading. But that's completely fine with me.

1. The Martian - Andy Weir
-I need to read this so I can see the movie!

2. Life and Death - Stephenie Meyer
-So that my boss can talk to me about it, haha don't ask.

3. Last Sacrifice - Richelle Mead
-its the last book in the Vampire Academy series!! I'm so excited to see how this whole thing ends.

4. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs
-This has also been on my shelf for so long and never been touched. It's time.

9. Bad Girls Don't Die - Katie Alender

Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender is the first horror book I read and it started my craving for more.

This book is filled with amazing things that kept me up at night. Creepy haunted dolls, check. Creepy sister, check. Old creepy house, check. Main character saves the day, check.

Although no one dies in this book (that I can remember, correct me if I'm wrong) it's still a pretty good thriller in my eyes. It brought me into the world of scary books and I haven't left since. At the end you may think everything is over but nope, there are two more books to look forward to.

I read this book so long ago, before the second book even hit shelves. I didn't even know there was going to be a second book but I bought it and I won't tell you anything about it. I'll save that for another day.

So I read this at least three or four years ago so it's very far back in my mind. But it was one of those books where you stay up till 3am to try and finish it because it's so scary that you don't know if you can sleep. And even after it you wonder if there are creepy ghosts watching you from the closet and you have to sleep with the light on.

And maybe, just maybe, your stuffed tiger sitting on your bookshelf is going to come to life and try to strangle you.

Yea, I was pretty freaked out after finishing it. I mean, it was my first horror book after all.

It got a five stars on goodreads from me, and added to my favourites list of course.

(Creepy picture for a creepy book.)
