4. Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is a fantastic start to this series.

I'll be honest, it took me a while to read this one because I read it last year while going through college. I read it every morning on the train in the freezing cold November winter and that was it. So some days I really didn't read it at all.

Also, the movie really drew me into reading this book in the first place. Yes, I am guilty as one of those people sometimes. And I've seen the movie so many times I can't remember all the differences even though there really were only few.

Do not fight me against movies and books and their differences and similarities. I refuse to get involved with those.

I hate them more than anything because I have to listen to my brother point them all out to me in the movie theatre. So don't even start with me.

The character Rose, whose point of view the series is written in, is probably one of my favourite characters of all time. She's hardcore and badass but can't keep her emotions in check and I love that so much. So sometimes her anger is let loose or her sarcasm and it's fantastic to read.

I always have a hard time not laughing when reading this series in public.

Its a very easy and lively read and I know of so many people who would love to read it. I really do love the villain in this one too. I won't tell you who it is but as much as I do hate them for being evil, I can see why they did what they did and that makes me really hate them even more.

The whole world they all live in is in our world but its completely seperate and I love that.

There's probably more I want to say about this book but I just can't think of it right now. I just really loved it a lot.

3. Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake is a great read for someone wanting to start reading horror books.

It's not my first horror book, but if you want to get into some ghostly reads, then I'd advise you to start with this one. For a little bit in the beginning it kind of reminded me of Supernatural, the TV show, but it made its own statement in my brain that I just can't get out.

First of all, it was printed in red ink, not black. Which freaked me out a little at the start but I quickly got used to it. It only took me a day to read this because of what I was doing that day didn't take up a lot of my time.

I think a lot of people around me were put-off by the cover but it was worth it. Especially when I made a comment about what was happening and they grimaced like it was the worst thing they've heard, which its probably not.

Told from the point of view of Cas - who yes is a guy - I was super happy to be able to read from a male's perspective for once. (That sentence made no sense but I'm sticking with it.) I honestly hope Kendare Blake writes more horror type books like this one that I can read. And more from the perspective of a guy because I want to read more from perspectives of boys.

Some of it was kind of like a breath of fresh air.

Red writing, boys perspective, killing ghosts, witches and mind-readers, plus the popular girl of the school helping out is awesome. Not to mention it's set in Canada, there's an angry cat, and Anna is basically the most badass ghost you will ever hear about.

This was literally the perfect equation for a book and I fell in love from the start.

I gave it 5 stars on goodreads and I kind of wish the cover looked a bit better but I leant it to my brother to read because I thought it was so fantastic.

He is a fan of Supernatural (the TV show) so I thought he might like it.

And yes I have read the second book called 'A Girl of Nightmares' but I will review that another time.

For now I kinda hope this isn't the last of Cas and that he shows up again. I don't care if it takes ten years, I'll still read another book from Cas' point of view anyday. His life seems much more interesting than mine will ever be.

2. Angelfall - Susan Ee

Angelfall by Susan Ee and I have a love-hate relationship.

I'm writing this review next because I plan on starting the second book 'World After' the day after I write this. (Not the day it's posted in case you were curious.)

Angelfall was a long shot for me. It sounded interesting enough but I never thought I'd get the urge to go ahead and purchase it. But I did, and soon after finishing it I bought the other two in the series.

I absolutely love Susan Ee's writing style. It caught my attention almost immediately. I love, love, the maid character Penryn even though I haven't got a clue how to say her name out loud, let alone in my own head.

As much as I loved this book, the decisions Penryn made along the way often angered me. She is very flawed and very human and I loved that about her but, oh man was I angry while reading this. i don't even know where all the anger came from but it was there from about chapter three and on.

I read part of this book with my cousin at the lake. We just chilled on the boat that was docked and read our own books in the presence of each others company until I got to the part where the twins convince her to start a fight (I hope that doesn't give a lot away) and I had to put it down.

My cousin thought it was hilarious that I didn't pick up the book for about a week. When I did pick it up it was because I was on a bus going home for three hours and had nothing else to do. I managed to finish it on the bus and the ending made me angry.

I mean you'd think that the all-mighty angel Raffe would have been able to tell if someone was dead but nope. That was the main reason I bought the second and third books. Because of the weird cliffhanger ending. I just couldn't leave it at that.

Despite how much I hate it while reading it, I need closure.

On my goodreads I gave it 3 stars. Probably more like 3.5 currently because I've kind of gotten over how angry it made me. Kind of.

I'm just hoping the second book doesn't make me as angry as the first. Well, maybe I want it to make me angry actually. It made things more interesting. I've never had a book make me that angry though the whole thing. Not a hate-angry but more like a constant second-hand embarrassment angry. An angry that you can't help but have over the characters and their actions.

Though, Penryn is a real badass when we really get down to it. Also, I love her mother no matter how crazy she seems to be to other people. I'm actually really happy her mom is the way she is. It made some things more interesting.

And her sister is pretty badass too.

Her family is just so dysfunctional that you can't help but love them all. It makes everything seem more real and more human than you'd think. Which is one of the huge reasons I love this book. Her family is just fantastic.

1. Reawakened - Colleen Houck

Reawakened by Colleen Houck is the first book in her newest series.

It came out August 11th 2015, however I discovered that the Chapters nearest my house was not informed of this release date as I was able to purchase it on August 9th.

Good news for me considering that Colleen Houck is one of my favourite authors.

I hadn't gotten around to reading it up until September although and I just finished it probably twenty minutes ago so I might not be in the right mind to really write a review on it but here goes nothing.

When I started this book, I was rather disappointed with it. the first few chapters were all smeared with my anger as I judged them so harshly. I realized soon after that I was comparing this book so much with Colleen's first series that I fell so much in love with, the 'Tiger's Curse' series.

So I took a step back and started to read it as if it was all on its own, as if this wasn't the same author. Which lightened my mood dramatically. Although that I believe this book isn't as good as the Tiger books that I read exactly one year ago in the course of five days, it has its own charms.

Today I managed to read the last two parts of it and I went through all of the emotions. Happiness, love, anger, sadness, and even some regret.

Reget mostly because I didn't pick it up sooner.

A part of me wished I never picked it up at all, but it had a lot of twists and turns I didn't see, and some that I did. It kept me reading, but that's not all that matters in a book.

I love books that can make me cry, and this one did. Even though I did not try to cry and made myself hold back the tears as much as I could, they still came and I was a little disappointed at myself for crying.

I wasn't particularly attached to the main character Lily. I think it was mostly because I didn't feel like I could relate to her life in anyway. (Before meeting Amon, not after meeting him of course.) Maybe that is also why this book will not be making its way onto my favourites list any time soon.

I did give it a rating of five stars on goodreads, though I really do feel like it's more like a 4.7 (/5) star rating. I just round up.

Maybe if this book had more of a smoothly written feel - rather than a choppy feeling - and Lily made more humanly mistakes and perhaps even felt a little more real and relatable to me, then this rating could be a full five stars.

I do not hate this book, on the contrary it took me three days to read which pretty much means I enjoyed it a lot.

You'll see as more of my reviews are posted that if I read a book within a week then it grabbed my attention enough that I can say I loved it.

I loved this book, I guess I just raised my expectations so much in the time waiting for it to be released and waiting to read it that I had very unrealistic expectations in mind.

I still loved learning more about Egyptian Gods and Goddess'. Colleen is very good with her research if you have ever read her Tiger's Curse series you would know this.

Maybe that's really why I like her writing so much is because of the history she uses in it (even if the characters added to history aren't real). I wouldn't recommend this book to all of my friends like I constantly do with the Tiger series. Maybe just some who are into reading as much as I am and could hold a conversation about it with me.

Although it is a flawed book, no book can really be that perfect. I still love it and I can't wait to see what she does with the second one. Because although there are hints in the epilogue, I don't know how she'll do it. As you near the end you really do wonder why this book is set to become a series of three rather than just a stand alone like it would seem.

I think that's what will make it more interesting.
