34. The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is something my children are going to read as soon as they fall in love with books. (Which will be very early on in their life if I have anything to do with it.)

I read this back when the movie came out because I thought the movie was fantastic. My brother had read all of the books prior to seeing the movie and didn't like the movie one bit. Once the movie came out on DVD, my dad and I must have watched it once or twice a week for the longest time. We watched it so much in that year that my mom went out and bought another copy because we had scratched the disc.

So I decided to finally read it. I borrowed my brother's copies of the books and fell in love at first read.

Seriously, if you've never read one of Rick Riordan's books, just open up to the page where they tell you the names of the chapters and you'll be in love. He's so funny.

I recently re-read this book and decided that I needed to let you know that this is one of my favourite books of all time. This is one of my favourite series of all time actually.

The adventure and humour is unmatched all throughout The Lightning Thief and beyond.

Plus, who doesn't like reading about greek gods and goddess'?

33. Cinder - Marissa Meyer

Cinder by Marissa Meyer is nothing you'd expect.

I had book hangover for about a week and half after this.

Seriously though, real talk. I don't particularly like Cinderella. I mean, it's great and all but it's not a movie that I'll go and watch in my free time because I feel like watching it. So I had bought this book back when it first started getting talked about. It was before Cress came out I believe, could be earlier than that though.

Anyway, I hadn't picked it up until now and I really wish I waited or at least read it earlier. I loved it so much. Too much to be honest.

It still has that second-hand embarrassment that I hate but it was wonderful and I'd read it again and again. But first I need to read Scarlet.

Since I didn't think I was going to like this book, I didn't buy Scarlet before-hand. Good job to me. Looks like I'm going to have to wait until Easter. Scarlet is going to be the first book I buy when lent is over.

I gave it a 4 star rating on Goodreads, but it's more like a 4.9 to be honest. Mostly just because what Cinder did at the ball frustrated me to no end and because Emperor Kai doesn't really think. I mean he does, but he needs to think more logically. For real.

I could rant about it but I won't. That would mean spoilers for you and I promised to try hard to not do that.

Please read this book if you haven't. It's worth the hype. Also read it when you're not on a book-buying-ban so you can get the next one. Or you may suffer just as I am right now.

32. Blood Promise - Richelle Mead

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead, oh my I don't even know where to start with this one.

I loved it.

I just finished reading it about an hour ago but couldn't write this due to a surprise super at my grandparents. Anyways, I gave this book five stars on goodreads because oh my god.

It started off a bit after the third book ended. But in a perfect spot in my opinion. Almost instantly, I was crying while reading this. It didn't help that I was on a bus while reading the first bit that made me want to cry. I just really hope no one noticed.

I didn't know how this book was going to go, but I am so happy it went the way it did. And I can't wait to pick up the next one.

There were new characters included in this book that were so awesome, I just didn't want them to ever leave. I also loved the way she included Lissa's story in the book almost as much as Rose's story. Even though we aren't around the princess, we still she what she's up to and holy crap when Rose helps her out near the end.

That was probably one of my favourite parts in this book.

I swear as this series goes on, the books get better.

Blood Promise definitely came very close to becoming my favourite book in this series. As I soak up the last bit over the next few days it might surpas Frostbite and become my favourite. But we'll have to see what happens in the last two books as well.

Also, I've never had a book make me cry in the first half. It's always been in the last quarter that it happens so that is part of why I loved this book. A different section to cry in, if that makes any sense.

I'm a little weird.

31. The House of Night Series - P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

The House of Night series is not one that I can write about each separate book. I have to talk about them all together because every time I read this series it's within the span of a week or two and they all kind of blend together.

In the beginning Zoe deals with little things like school girl drama and what not but it quickly escalates to bigger problems. This series is super fast paced and I strongly believed that it should have ended at ten books.

I had to pretty much force myself to read the eleventh book and I honestly can say nothing really huge happened. Well, there was that thing with the humans and the lightning but that was so unnecessary that it's been a year and I still haven't picked up the twelfth book.

They just need to get rid of... well the evil headmistress lady (I can't remember her name. I know it starts with an N though.) and move on with their lives.

To be honest, my favourite character in these books is Stark, and my favourite books in the whole series are the one when he shows up (and dies) and the one where he has to save Zoe.

That's it really.

I don't have much to say about it but ten books is enough. I'll probably eventually read the twelfth book. One day. It will be when I have nothing else to read probably. I'll be desperate for something probably.

However, it's not going to be any day soon.
